Come Learn with the EMIS Rams!

At Echo Mountain Intermediate School (EMIS), we use data derived from students to develop instruction that will best meet the learning goals of each individual student. Teachers meet regularly in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to discuss ways to measure student growth and to learn how to enhance their own instructional practices.

Our instruction is based on the standards set forth in the Arizona College and Career Ready Standards. The focus is to prepare students to be creative thinkers in the 21st century school and work environment. This includes instruction in all areas of traditional literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening), as well as the emerging field of digital literacy.

Reading: McGraw Hill's Wonders

Math: Zearn/Eureka Math

Science: Scott Foresman

Social Studies: Scott Foresman

In addition to the core subjects, EMIS also believes in the development of the whole student through regularly scheduled classes in:

  • Art
  • Music
  • P.E.
  • Media and Technology

At Echo Mountain, we believe that technology is to be integrated in the classroom, as well as taught as a specialty subject. Students in Grades 4-6 have access to Chromebooks and several computer labs.

Students also attend regularly scheduled classes in both Media and Technology to ground them in the use of both as tools for their future career success.
