How AVID Works
Twice per week, students engage in tutorials facilitated by college tutors, which are modeled after college study groups at the university level. Students must collaborate with their peers as they work through issues in their own learning, and progress onto higher-level questions about their rigorous coursework.
Outcomes
Research shows that 87 percent of AVID graduates succeed in college compared to 77 percent of their peers – and many of them are the first in their families to go to college. The AVID program transforms and molds students into organized, dedicated, and empowered individuals who create and secure their own futures.
